Ten of our 13 DNA results fall into one or the other of two distinct genetic families. All 5 American Stegall / Steagall into one, and 5 of our 8 English members into another genetic family.A summary of our DNA matches can be seen in the following table

These four members ABCD exactly matched each other on 58 out of 67 markers. The ones where we differed included 7 fast mutating markers where just 1 person differed by a 1 step difference and 2 standard markers where the results in each case the descendants of Cornelius and Michael Steggle were paired together as were those of John Stagles and William Steggles.

Note, F denotes a fast and St a standard mutating marker.
These results indicate that the descendants of Michael and Cornelius Steggle share one branch of the family tree and John Stagles and William Steggles share another branch.
On Dec 11th, we were informed that records had been found showing that the two Steggle families are both descended from Martin Steggle born in about 1742. See the family trees on our Genetic Family Trees page.
